The Philharmonic in Pyongyang

Yes, I think a cultural dialogue is good. Yes, I'm happy that flowers - not troops along the 38th parallel - are what's separating the Americans from the Koreans in this picture.

That said, isn't it a little disgusting how few women there are in the audience?

Bidoun Magazine

This is the cover of the new issue of Bidoun Magazine, which I just discovered through Paper Cuts.

The subject of the new issue is Glory, and the cover is by a guy named Babak Radboy.

This is pretty glorious, no? It's of course interesting to me that a magazine devoted to Middle Eastern culture would publish one of the most moving images to come out of 9/11.

Two more images that I like from the website (they don't show up well here, but just click on them to see a larger version) -

So this is why football is so popular.

Yes, it's an ad. But it's a really great ad.

"because we're two continents who have separated via sea floor spreading"

This is from Found Magazine. It was sent by my friend Emily in Vermont (you may know her from the tragically un-updated blog Adventures in Low Zipcodes - I'm calling you out Emily!) I'll bet she wasn't expecting that. Ohhh damn.

White

I like how in the bottom picture it looks like the ground is undulating beneath the house.
